History
The Kavanagh Building is a prime example of Argentine modern architecture and one of the most iconic landmarks on the Buenos Aires skyline. Commissioned by Corina Kavanagh and inaugurated in 1936, it was designed by Luis Sánchez, Ernesto Lagos, and Luis María de la Torre, quickly becoming a benchmark of Rationalist architecture with Art Deco influences.
Standing 120 meters tall with 30 floors, it was for several years the tallest building in Latin America and the tallest reinforced concrete building in the world. Its innovative structure, situated on a triangular plot facing Plaza San Martín, masterfully addressed the site's conditions through a stepped composition that accentuates its verticality and gives it an unmistakable silhouette.
Beyond its extraordinary architectural quality, the Kavanagh incorporated technological advancements unprecedented for the time—such as central air conditioning, twelve high-speed elevators, and a wide range of resident services—cementing its status as one of the most modern residential buildings in the world during its era. This edition of the CONCRETE Collection reinterprets one of the great icons of Argentine architecture in a concrete piece that encapsulates its elegance, monumentality, and heritage value, transforming it into a design object created to complement contemporary spaces.
